Why we built this
NYU has over 700,000 living alumni worldwide. The university's official channels do a remarkable job of highlighting research and institutional milestones — but the individual human stories often go untold. This blog is an independent effort to change that.
We feature alumni from every school, every decade, and every kind of career. Not just the Forbes 30-Under-30 types — though those are here too — but also the researcher who spent 20 years on one problem, the filmmaker who finally got distribution, the entrepreneur who failed twice before succeeding.
How profiles are written
Each profile is written in collaboration with the featured alumnus. We conduct a short interview (usually 20–30 minutes via video call or email), then draft a profile for their review before publishing. Nothing goes live without their approval.
We aim for accuracy and specificity. No vague corporate bio language. Real numbers, real timelines, real quotes.
