Hispanic Media and Marketing Star Lucia Ballas-Traynor

In July of 2008, Lucia Ballas-Traynor (Washington Square College) was named publisher of People en Español. She was previously Senior Vice President and General Manager of MTV Tr3s; she helped re-brand the network (formerly called MTV Español) and established it as the most widely-distributed TV network dedicated to serving bicultural Latino youth. In 1999, she was named general manager of Galavisión, the cable television network owned by Univisión. She grew the network's coveted 18-34 year old demographic and nearly doubled the distribution, making it one of the most popular Hispanic networks in the United States for teens and young adults. She has been widely credited for helping to establish the Spanish TV network and placing it on the cable TV landscape. Ms. Ballas-Traynor has been named a "Media All Star" by Adweek's Marketing Y Medios, one of The Hollywood Reporter's "Latino Power 50," and a top "Women in Music" by Billboard magazine, among other accolades. She is a member of the Hispanic Initiative Advisory Council at Junior Achievement of New York, Inc.

Ballas-Traynor is a graduate of New York University and joins an impressive list of Arts and Science alumni currently working in publishing/marketing.
