Emily Abt is an up and coming director, producer and writer. She is also the Founder and President of Pureland Pictures Inc., a Brooklyn based film and commercial production company. Last year, she was chosen by Variety magazine as one of the “2009 Top 10 Directors to Watch.”
"TAKE IT FROM ME" (2001), Emily’s first documentary film, profiled four women who strived to pull themselves and their families out of poverty in New York City. It was aired nationwide on PBS`s P.O.V. season. Her second film, “ALL OF US,” was the 2008 World AIDS Day film and it premiered on Showtime.
Her most recent film, "TOE TO TOE," was featured at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival where it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize in the Dramatic Competition section. It is also currently being released nationally and screenings have been scheduled for New York City on February 4th and in Los Angeles on March 12th. More screenings will be scheduled soon.
